Question System i Access Excel toolbar

Anyone know how to remove the System i Access (v6r1) Excel toolbar? It seems that no matter what I do, it comes back when I restart Excel.

OK, stupid question - if you're running Office 2K3, you've right-clicked on the toolbar, then clicked "Customize..." in the resulting list of toolbars, high-lighted the "iSeries Access" toolbar, then hit the "Delete" button, right? Isn't that supposed to delete it?

I want to leave mine in place, so that's as far as I went, 'cause I wouldn't know how to add it back!

Sorry, probably not terribly helpful...

I guess what happened was because, through a registry entry, Excel remembers the directory path to the iSeries Access file that provides the function.

I guess one thing you can do is to delete the file that enables the menu item. From these IBM Technotes: Adding the Data Transfer Add-In to Microsoft Excel and Excel Add-In Upload Function, it's the file named "cwbtfxla.xll" in \Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Shared directory. May be a different path in V6R1 but you may be able to guess. Or just use Windows Search function for cwbtfxla*.*.

Another possible way is to identify the registry entry for Excel's iSeries Access add-in, if there is one, and remove or modify it. I did a Google search with "excel add in regitry" and found this information of the registry location: INFO: Where does Windows Registry store the information about Add-ins? You may also want to explore this path.

That file does not exist under v6r1. I found this DLL, C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Shared\cwbtfcai.dll. I renamed that file and the add-in disappeared. I also found it in the registry at \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Addin s\DataTransfer.Addin.1, but I'd rather not mess with the registry.

Thanks
